Common California Questions
Why is California structured differently than other states?
California's BPPE framework allows schools operating under a licensed dentist's supervision delivering CA Dental Board-approved courses to launch without full standalone school licensure. SMV built an affiliate-campus model specifically to take advantage of that framework.
Why include the 5 CA Dental Board certs?
They make your graduates significantly more marketable than graduates of competitor CA schools. Practices hiring your students get immediate clinical coverage across radiation safety, coronal polishing, infection control, sealants, and Dental Practice Act knowledge.
How are the certs embedded in the curriculum?
They're woven into the existing 12-week Clinical Ready™ timeline — Radiation Safety and Dental Practice Act map to weeks 7–8, Infection Control is formally certified during week 5, and Coronal Polishing / Sealants are integrated into Phase 02 practicum weeks.
Why is California $2,500 more than standard activation?
The $2,500 CA pathway fee covers affiliate-campus onboarding, CA Dental Board course integration, and the additional compliance overhead unique to California. Total CA Premium activation is $10,000 vs $7,500 standard. CA Concierge is $28,000 with certs already included.
Can CA practices start on the Standard plan?
No. The affiliate-campus model and embedded certs require the Premium operational layer — done-for-you marketing, higher-touch compliance support, and instructor certification. Standard does not support the CA pathway.
Is there additional revenue potential from the certs?
Yes. CA graduates can command higher starting wages because they arrive cert-ready. Practices also enroll working assistants into the cert program directly for $500–$2,000 per certification — a side revenue stream layered on top of cohort tuition.
